We may have found....

our pediatrician! I spent some time researching different practices in the area. Originally I thought that I would just go with the pediatrician clinic that is in the same building/medical group as my OB. I've changed my mind about that recently. I really like our OB, but I am growing to hate the huge organization that his practice is managed by.

Our OB is affiliated with a large teaching hospital in the city. They have great specialists and some of the doctors I've seen have been really great, but as with any large organization, there is often a lot of confusion and mismanagement (meaning, lack of personal attention). Each time I've had to go in for an emergency visit to the doctors office and I've seen a new or unfamiliar doctor, things get mixed up. I've had 3 visits in the past 6 months with doctors who were not friendly, did not listen to me, and did not offer me the kind of care I was expecting. With all three of those experiences I left there feeling really angry that I'd wasted my time.

It made me realize that I do not want to feel that way about my daughter and her medical care. I want her to go to a pediatrician clinic that is small and where I would know and be comfortable with all the doctors there. I found one that fits that criteria that is close to where we live, and accepted by our insurance. They have 5 doctors on staff, all with friendly photos and detailed bios on the clinic website. We're going to go in for a pre-natal visit to meet the doctors in a couple weeks...hopefully it will work out well.
