Before I got pregnant with M2, I did Weight.Watchers. I was not at a healthy weight, thanks to lots of dining out on rich foods with my husband. He was blessed with one of those super fast metabolisms where he could eat 10 cheeseburgers a day and still be rail thin. I cannot. For the most part I am a healthy eater and I know a lot about nutrition, but I do tend to eat more than I should and overindulge in the sweets. A program like WW is perfect for me because I can still eat anything, I just have the program to keep my portions in check.
I signed up for WW in the spring of 2008, and I lost a little more than 40 lbs before I became pregnant with M2. I am one of those people that doesn't lose weight through breastfeeding, the weight just stayed on. So after nearly 3 years of continuous pregnant, breastfeeding, pregnant, breastfeeding, I was free about a month ago when we weened P5. So I started up with WW again. I was a little hesitant at first - in the 3 years since I did the points program, they revamped the program to the "points plus" and I wasn't sure if it would work as well for me. I'd heard some negative thing about the new program. Well, so far it has worked great. It is a little harder to guestimate points since the calculation is a bit more complex, but thanks to the power of the internet (and having a smart phone) I can figure out the points relatively easily. So I'm one month into the program, and have lost 10.1 lbs. Yay!
Last week I joined a gym too. This new place opened near us and was offering a sweet deal to lock in the rate of $12 a month. The kids room rate for two kids unlimited (well, up to 2 hours per day while working out) was $15 a month. I signed up and so far it's been going really well. The kids seem to enjoy it, and it is giving me time to work out and have a bit of break from mommy duty.
At home mealtime has been a little tricky in that Mr.P is trying to gain weight, and I am trying to lose weight. But we are making it work, and I am excited to continue the momentum that I have.
That's really great :) Congratulations!
