Breaking the rules...

The joke around the Phinney household is that BabyPhinney is probably throwing a little temper tantrum each morning. When I wake up I am starving hungry and my first priority is getting a bowl of cereal. We like to think that little BabyPhinney is in there kicking around yelling, "Feed me lady!" Well...maybe not. BabyPhinney is still too small for me to feel any kicks, and it doesn't have the brain capacity to think about food yet.

This weekend we made two trips to Costco, a very rare event in our household. Mr.P gets extremely grumpy when venturing out to Costco on the weekend, so it's a miracle he made it through two trips without a meltdown. On one of the visits we found a big box of cereal called the "Fun Pack." It has a large bag of each of the three cereals: Cocoa Crispies, Apple Jacks, and Fruit Loops. I had a bowl of Cocoa Crispies for dessert last night, and a bowl of Apple Jacks this morning.

In an effort to save money and eat healthier, I decided the first step would be to go back to packing a lunch. The past few months I've been bringing snacks with me to work, but then eating out most days for lunch. Last night I made myself a turkey and cheese sandwich, something I have not had in months. The pregnancy books all say that lunch meat is a no-no during pregnancy because of the risk of listeria bacteria. I was following this rule, but finally caved while grocery shopping last night because the thought of a turkey and cheese sandwich sounded too good. I figured the risk of listeria seemed really low. Oops...I just read online that during pregnancy women are 20 times more likely to contract listeria than when not pregnant. Now I'm feeling kind of bad about my sandwich. I'm not going to do it again, I guess with a higher risk it's not worth the chance.
