"You can think about left, you can think about beft! Why is it that beft always go to the left?" - Dr. Seuss
Right now M2 is on a Dr. Seuss kick. The two most requested books at that moment are Ten Apples Up on Top and The Thinks You Can Think. Mr.P and I pretty much have both of these books memorized. The apples book I get; it's silly and fun with the animals balancing apples on their heads. M2 always squeals with laughter during the part where the bear is chasing them with the mop. But the thinks book is a clear indication that Dr. Seuss was smoking something when he wrote it. It's very cleaver and rhymes well, but the colors and creatures in it make me feel like I'm having some kind of hallucinogenic drug experience with the flip of each page.
It's a funny thing trying to introduce books to a toddler. Mr.P and I have our own favorite books that we have tried to push on M2, but that girl is very opinionated and stubborn so there is no telling her which books she should listen to. There have also been books in the past that she adored that we would groan over having to read for the umpteenth time. One such book, I'm a Big Sister, Mr.P kept threatening to throw in the fireplace. He must have hid it somewhere because I haven't seen it in quite awhile.
