Taste the rainbow.

As previously mentioned, I am feeling fantastic with my Whole30 eating plan. I'm eating so much food too! Plus I'm eating things I wouldn't have when I was on WW because of the high points (macadamia nuts, sunbutter, bacon). I'll admit that I currently would like some chocolate. And beer. But I'm going to stick to the 30 days before I indulge in those. Thank goodness coffee and tea are allowed for the Whole30.

One of the biggest things I've noticed about this diet plan is that my hunger feels different. Now that the sugar, wheat, grain, dairy proteins are all out of my system and the food I'm eating is more natural, my hunger instinct has noticeably changed. I am normally one of those people who gets "hangry" you know, super hungry which turns me into a mean angry person until I get food. That blood sugar drop where your body is screaming, "I need food now!" I used to then proceed to feed myself something sugary or carb heavy when I got into one of those moods because often those were the easiest to find foods. Now, my hunger is very subtle and comes on very slowly. I don't feel like I'm going to pass out or hurt someone when I start to get hungry, and by eating so much protein and fiber I am staying fuller longer. It's hard to explain, but it's very different than what I'm used to (and I am someone who is usually a big snacker and has never cut out sugar or carbs for more than a day or two).

I thought I'd do a photo montage of some of my meals. Forgive the poor quality cell phone pictures, I'm not patient enough to get the real camera or make my food look prettier before eating :-)

Homemade butternut squash soup, strawberry/spinach/arugula salad,
steak, green beans & onion/zucchini hash

Breakfast scramble of 2 eggs + 1 egg white, onion,
chicken Italian sausage, and grated zucchini

This was my favorite meal so far: crock pot concoction of lamb/bacon/onion,
with pan fried side of white sweet potato/broccoli/carrot/zucchini

Not my favorite. Brussel sprouts (something I haven't tried in over 25 years! They were OK, a little bitter), herb seasoned ground beef, homemade carrot/ginger/coconut soup

Omelet - 1 egg + 1 egg white, garlic chicken sausage, bell pepper, onion, and spinach. The Tupperware container holds my homemade fruit nut bars that have cashews/almonds/coconut/dried apricots/dried cranberries/fresh ginger/cinnamon in them.

Still cooking - pan fried chicken breasts with some olive oil,
lemon juice, garlic and topped with red chard.

I'm looking forward to making a homemade tomato soup tonight!
